Aesthetic Medicine

Aesthetic Medicine constitutes rather new branch of medicine covering various treatments aiming at recovering of beauty bearing some signs of passage of time and its other inadequacies through correcting its flaws as well as proceedings aiming at maintaining the balance of our bodies. The objective of this medicine branch is human aesthetics being the result of appropriate and balanced functioning of the body to achieve longest, high-quality life led in well-being.

  • Mezotherapy, Biorevitalization and biostimulation of skin

Biorevitalization and biostimulation of face, neck, neckline, hands and other body areas aims at decreasing the slackness of skin by applying mezotherapy treatments.

Mezotherapy is one of the most effective method of fighting slackness of skin and it consists of the series of intracutaneous injections carried out with a very fine needle and injecting substances which encourage the skin to reconstruct and regenerate. These substances are skin’s natural ingredients responsible for its appropriate tension and moisturization. The task of the mezotherapy is to eliminate small wrinkles, prevent the skin from ageing, reconstruct proper collagen and elastic fibres which determine the quality of the skin.

The number of treatments, the type of applied substances as well as the frequency of treatments is adjusted to the individual needs of our patients.

The most commonly applied preparations are: Mesolis, Surgilift plus, IalSystem, Plinest, NCTF, SkinR and SkinB and other.

The treatment of stretch marks is conducted by means of the combination of techniques, individually matching the skin type

Peels

Chemical peels: by provoking more or less intense exfoliation they cause skin rejuvenation and improve its moisturization. They allow for achieving homogeneous colour, decrease wrinkles, eliminate discoloration, reduce active acne changes and post acne scars. Depending on our patients’ needs we have a full range of peels starting from surface ones such as glikopeel, almond peel, semi-deep ones such as Yellow peel, pyruvic peel, and finishing with the strongest ones represented by TCA or Phenol-derived peel.

An excellent, exceptionally effective and safe treatment is Cosmelan depigmentation which quickly and permanently removes discoloration and simultaneously causes gentle exfoliation of the skin. The treatment does not limit our patients’ social activities.

Botulinum Toxin A (Botox Dysport)

The mechanics of botulinum toxin consists in stopping the secretion of neurotransmitter of end organs, i.e. acetylcholine within the area of neuromuscular junctions which results in muscle’s deconcentration and relaxation. Also, the botulinum toxin hampers the secretion of sweat glands, diminishes pains and, in particular, it influences the pain syndromes combined with muscle tensions such as migraine and tension headaches.

Wrinkles – crow’s feet, lion’s frown, forehead lines, labial fold lines, chin and neck lines, nasal lines, downturn of mouth corners or deepened naso-labial fold lines may be corrected by means of botulinum toxin injections. Due to spot botox injections we may achieve safe smoothing of lines, in particular the mimic facial ones.

Other recommendations for injecting the toxins are as follows:

  • Excess sweating of hands, feet and armpits,
  • migraine , tension and chronic headaches,
  • spasmodic muscle pains of neck (called torticollis) and back,
  • post-surgical scars and breast muscle tone, e.g. after implementing prostheses increasing the size of breast. The preparations employed by our clinic are: Dysport (Ipsen Ltd.) and Botox Cosmetic (Allergan).

The contraindications for implementing botulinum toxin are: pregnancy, breast feeding and myasthenia gravis (serious muscle weekness).

Hyaluronic acid

It is used as a filler of surface and deep face lines. All preparations are absorbed after 5-12 or in some cases even after 24 months. The treatment shall be repeated to achieve more permanent result.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural polysaccharide constituting a crucial skin’s structure, subcutaneous, connective and synovial fluid tissues declining with age. Injecting of its synthetic equivalent results in more resilient and tense skin in the areas of application with the face oval looking smoother. The hyaluronic acid is often used in the correction of lips, cheekbones’ areas and in some case in the correction of the shape of a nose.

The subcutaneous injection treatment is proceeded in the topical anaesthesia. more sensitive patients are advised to apply Emla anaesthetic ointment. The preparations shall not be combined with each other. The treated areas should not be exposed to warmth and cold directly after the treatment. Also, no other treatments should be executed in the places of application. Sunbathing (as well as sun beds), mechanical, chemical and laser peels are contraindicated, at least until the feeling of itching and skin flushing subside. Failing to comply with the above guidelines may result in an inflammatory condition. The preparations employed by our clinic are Sugiderm Surgilift HighFill Voluma and other.

Polylactic acid

The most contemporary preparation employed for filling and correction of face volume is Sculptra Poly-L- lactic Acid, the substance that occurs naturally in the human skin. The polylactic acid applied in subcutaneous injections has got a double effect. the acid molecules injected deep into the skin shallow the wrinkles and reconstruct the lost volume of tissues, and then they stimulate the skin cells to produce collagen responsible for skin’s resilience and mosturization. The polylactic acid is applied to decrease volume loss in the areas of temples and mostly cheekbones and reduce the dropping of tissues. The lasting of correction After two up till three treatments applied in the area of cheekbones may even last for some couple of years. The polylactic acid decomposes entirely after some couple of months leaving the newly-built network of collagen. The treatment can be executed without anaesthesia but the topical anaesthesia is often applied. The employed preparation is Sculptra.

lipolysis

Lipolysis constitutes a non-surgical reduction of adipose tissue by injecting the phosphatidylcholine into the modeled body parts. This is a method for patients who want to model their body shape without the necessity to incorporate surgical treatment. The ideal candidates for lipolysis are patients who, although their strenuous attempts, fail to achieve expected results in shaping their bodies. This is not a method for losing weight, however, and such treatment might not be effective with obese patients.

Phosphatidylcholine is a natural ingredient of our bodies. The lecithin is derived from soy beans. It is widely used in medicine in treating fat embolism, the reduction of lipids in blood and other indications.

Phosphatidylcholine injected into the adipose tissue causes damage of fat cells and after permeating into the cell it prompts the disintegration of triglycerides. Then, it is transported with the lipoproteins into the liver where the fat is being disintegrated and removed from the body.

The lipolysis is mostly introduced into the areas of chin, cheeks, abdomen, thighs and buttocks.

The treatment consists in injecting the preparation of phosphatidylcholine into strictly planned areas by means of cannula. The treatment does not require anaesthesia, although it seems useful to apply some topical anaesthesia with some patients.

Some potential complications that might occur after lipolysis are skin flushing, swelling, small bruises, feeling of discomfort in the place of application and itching.
